"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled."
This week we’ll study the fourth beatitude. Following in line with the first three, we admit our need, our hunger for God.
Read Revelation 3:16-17 (NIV):
"So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. [17] You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked."
What are the three things that the lukewarm person says about himself in verse 17?
In contrast, list the five words Jesus uses to describe the lukewarm in that same verse.
God can do nothing in your life if you see no need for Him. The fourth beatitude describes someone who knows that nothing of the world will satisfy their hunger. Only God can. So they seek as much of Him and His righteousness as they can get.
Bow your head and lift up your empty hands. Admit your emptiness to God. Tell Him that you need Him to fill you with His righteousness.
