So far in John 17 we’ve read about how God has given us His Word to obey, which makes the world hate us (see verses 6, 8, 14).
Let’s look at some more Scriptures about God’s Word to us. Jot down any insights about His Word as you read them.
When your words came, I ate them;
they were my joy and my heart's delight,
for I bear your name,
O LORD God Almighty.
The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom's voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete.
You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.
Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth.
The man without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned. [15] The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment:
[16] "For who has known the mind of the Lord
that he may instruct him?"But we have the mind of Christ.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. [21] For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
Using your insights, write a short prayer, thanking God for His Word and what it does for you.
