Check out a new episode of PBS's Secrets of the Dead called "Battle for the Bible." It's about how the Bible was first translated into English and the drama and danger that went with it. TV Guide's description of the program:
The dangers faced by religious reformers and those who translated the Bible into English are examined in this compelling episode. Actor Liev Schreiber narrates this chilling account of the efforts of theologian John Wycliffe, scholar William Tyndale and Archbishop of Canterbury Thomas Cranmer to produce Bibles in English that included their own interpretations of the Scriptures. Included are comments from Claremont Graduate University English and history professor Lori Anne Ferrell.
It will air Tuesday, May 1 at 11 p.m. on PBS Atlanta station WPBA 30.
I cannot vouch for the program since I haven't seen it yet but I will definitely be TiVo-ing it.
