1 Timothy 1:10b-11 (NIV):
"...and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine that conforms to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me."
Here Paul implies that good teachers teach sound doctrine that conforms to the glorious Gospel of the blessed God, which He entrusts to us as leaders.
That phrase "which he entrusted to me" kind of haunts me!
Think about what God has entrusted to you as a leader.
It is a sacred trust, this leadership thing. God has entrusted to you as a leader certain people that you lead--sheep from His own pasture. And He has put His trust in you that you won't lead them astray, but you will keep them centered on the sound doctrine that conforms to His glorious Gospel. That's a sacred trust.
I want to make sure that everything I say/write/do/blog/teach/etc. conforms to the glorious Gospel of my Blessed God, because He trusts me with doing that. I don't want to betray that trust.
Father, help me be diligent to teach and live sound doctrine in everything I do, and not to lead Your people astray. Keep me close to the heart of Your Word, and alarm me whenever I begin to stray into false doctrine. Keep my heart pure, my conscience good, my faith sincere, and my love strong--both for You and for people.
