1 Timothy 4:2 -- The enemy of the "best" is the "good"

1 Timothy 4:2 (NIV):

"Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron."

Satan works through "hypocritical liars." As Paul says in 2 Corinthians 11:14-15 (NIV), "...Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. [15] It is not surprising, then, if his servants masquerade as servants of righteousness...."

Satan is subtle that way. He rarely comes at us with blatant, black sin and temptation, but comes disguised as something good...righteous even.

The enemy of the "best" is the "good."

It is so important for you to discover for yourself what God's Word says. Don't take what a preacher or a teacher or a speaker says for truth without digging in and discovering for yourself. This is biblical, by the way! (See Acts 17:11.)

Then, when you have discovered the truth, gently teach others.
