Read John 17:11 (NIV):
I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name—the name you gave me—so that they may be one as we are one.
How does the Father protect us in this world?
Read Proverbs 18:10 (NIV):
The name of the LORD is a strong tower;
the righteous run to it and are safe.
How is the name of the Lord described?
Read Psalm 20:1 (NIV):
May the LORD answer you when you are in distress;
may the name of the God of Jacob protect you.
What does the name of the Lord do?
Why do children call out for their parents so many times a day?
How many times yesterday did you call out your Father’s name for help?
Now go back to John 17:11 (NIV):
I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name—the name you gave me—so that they may be one as we are one.
Why does Jesus want to protect us?
As best as you can, how would you describe the unity that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit experience?
How would experiencing that kind of unity transform the relationships of believers with each other?
Holy Father, thank You for the protection found in Your name. Help me to be a force for unity in the Body of Christ today.
