The past four weeks we have studied this incredible, holy prayer of Jesus in John 17.
Let’s finish by taking today and tomorrow to look at the other recorded prayers of Christ and see what we can glean from them.
For each Scripture, bullet out what Jesus prays about, how He prays, and any insights you receive for your own prayer life.
At that time Jesus said, "I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. [26] Yes, Father, for this was your good pleasure.
After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone,
Then he took the seven loaves and the fish, and when he had given thanks, he broke them and gave them to the disciples, and they in turn to the people.
Then little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them.
While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take and eat; this is my body."
[27] Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you."
Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, "Sit here while I go over there and pray."
He went away a second time and prayed, "My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done."
So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing.
About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?"—which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"
We’ll continue looking at verses tomorrow, but for now, what have you learned that you want to incorporate in your own prayer life?
Spend some time right now in prayer.
