One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.
Once when Jesus was praying in private and his disciples were with him, he asked them, "Who do the crowds say I am?"
About eight days after Jesus said this, he took Peter, John and James with him and went up onto a mountain to pray. [29] As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning.
One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples."
But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.
Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.
So they took away the stone. Then Jesus looked up and said, "Father, I thank you that you have heard me. [42] I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me."
Now my heart is troubled, and what shall I say? "Father, save me from this hour"? No, it was for this very reason I came to this hour. [28] Father, glorify your name!
